Solar systems have two main systems:
- OFF GRID
- ON GRID
OFF GRID
In Off- Grid systems, electricity from solar panels cannot go back to the grid by a process called net metering as seen in on grid solar systems they are instead stored in batteries to be used at night. Off grid system consists of:
- Solar Panels
- Inverters
- Charging Regulator
- Batteries As for the mechanism of operation of the system.
Off grid inverter comes with a feature to share excessive load from the grid. You can set the priority between solar, grid and battery. Example if solar power is less than the load the priority could be set between the battery or the grid to share the excess load along with the solar. When there is no solar power and no grid power the load will be powered by the battery.
ON GRID
It is one of the well-known and highly approved types in some countries, particularly developed countries, as the system consists of:
- Solar Panels
- Inverter
If the electricity from the solar panels produced is more than the load needed to power the appliances the extra electricity can be fed back to the grid by a process called net metering. In the case of the electricity produced from solar panels is less than the load required to power up the appliances at your house or even in case of no electricity produced from the solar panels; electricity from the grid will be utilized to feed the appliances at home.
